How I Approach Photography
I will be honest, my approach to boudoir photography is a lot different from that of most other photographers.
Not to say my approach is better, many boudoir studios offer a polished, luxury experience. They have beautiful client wardrobes to choose from, professional hair and makeup artists, carefully curated product collections, and years of experience guiding clients through tried and true poses that are flattering every time.
Rather than following the traditional boudoir formula, I chose to build something that's a little more personal.
That's why I ask you to bring your own outfits and style yourself in a way that makes you feel your best. Your wardrobe, your makeup, and your personal style are all part of how you present yourself. I don't want to replace that with my own expectations, I want to capture a snapshot of how you want to be portrayed.
I also want you to look up what type of photos you like and practice those poses. During the photoshoot I will definitely help guide you, give suggestions and little tips and tricks like: Butterfly hand technique, giving space, creating shapes, if it curves then curve it.
Most importantly though, I want to make sure that when you look at those photos, you see something that you helped create.
On the "Book a Photoshoot" page I have a questionnaire that will help jump start a lot of the early planning and what we want to do for the photoshoot. And we will go over all of this when we first meet up, whether in person for a coffee or a quick online chat. And from there, if we are both comfortable moving forward, we plan where and when you want to do the photoshoot.
What To Expect The Day Of The Photoshoot
Get lots of sleep in the days leading up to your photoshoot, and make sure you eat something beforehand, I don't want anyone passing out on me
And above all, hydrate!
When you're getting ready, try to avoid wearing anything tight that might leave red marks or lines on your skin. Jeans and underwire bras are not your friends here. I once had a rockstar of a model show up to a photoshoot in the middle of the forest wearing nothing but a fluffy pink bathrobe
Once we arrive, we'll take a few minutes to settle in. There's no rush to jump straight in front of the camera. We'll chat, look over the outfits you've brought, talk through the plan, and ease into the session at a comfortable pace
If you're nervous, that's completely normal. In fact, I'd say most people are. Very few of my clients are professional models, and I'm certainly not expecting you to know exactly what to do. That's my job
We will work together through the entire session, going through poses, expressions, hand placement, and little adjustments that will help things come together. We'll check in with each other throughout the shoot, and if something feels uncomfortable or just isn't working, we'll change it. The best photos happen when you're relaxed and enjoying yourself, not when you're trying to force a pose that doesn't feel like you
Don't worry about looking perfect every second. Some of my favourite images happen in the moments between poses, a genuine laugh, a quiet smile, or when you stop thinking about the camera altogether
And if an idea pops into your head halfway through the shoot, tell me. Some of my favourite photographs have come from spontaneous ideas that neither of us planned. Once we found an old rusty shovel and the model transformed and started giving impressively threatening warrior vibes with it
By the end of the session, my hope is that it won't feel like you've just had your photo taken. It'll feel like we've created something together
There may be moments during the session where I seem quiet, thoughtful, or like I'm staring off into space while looking at you
Don't worry, I'm not judging you or searching for flaws
I'm looking at the details that help create a great photograph. How the light falls across you, where the shadows are creating shape, framing of the background behind you, and how all the elements of the image are coming together
Sometimes the best photographs come from noticing small things, the angle of a shoulder, the way your hands are positioned, the direction you're looking, or how the light catches a particular moment
So if I look like I'm deep in thought during a session, I'm probably just seeing the photograph before I take it
How I Edit The Photos
A camera doesn't capture exactly what our eyes see. It changes colours, contrast, depth, and all the little details that make a moment feel alive
When I edit your images, my goal is to bring that feeling back, to make the photographs look as close as possible to how the moment actually felt in person
I'll happily remove temporary things like bruises, blemishes, or unexpected red marks
I don't use AI on personal principle in any aspect of my photography
What I also won't do is reshape your body or change who you are. I don't believe you need to be edited into someone else. My goal is to create an image that looks and feels like you, and celebrates you
Every person has their own idea of what makes them feel confident, beautiful, and empowered. For some, that may be a classic boudoir session, fantasy or artsy photoshoot. For others, they may want to explore something more intimate, sensual, or erotic
Whatever direction we take, the most important part of the process is communication
Before the photoshoot, we'll discuss your comfort level, your boundaries, and what you are and are not interested in creating. There is never any pressure to do something just because it was discussed beforehand. You are always in control of your session, and you can change your mind at any point
For any more intimate or erotic sessions, we can establish clear signals beforehand so that communication remains simple and comfortable throughout the shoot. "Pause" means pause, "stop" means stop
Your comfort always comes first.
My role is not to push you beyond your boundaries. My role is to help you explore the version of yourself you want to see while creating an environment built on trust, respect, and mutual creativity
The best photographs come from moments where you feel confident, comfortable, and completely in control
Before booking, we will discuss the type of imagery you are interested in creating, including your comfort level with nudity, sensuality, or erotic styled themes if that is the type of session you are looking for. Every session is approached as a collaborative artistic process, and the goal is always to create tasteful, intentional imagery that reflects your vision while staying within boundaries we both feel comfortable with
Boudoir photography is personal, and your images are yours to share, not mine
Your photographs will never be shared publicly, used for advertising, posted online, or included in my portfolio without your explicit permission. You are always the person who decides where your images go
Trust is a huge part of this process, and protecting that trust is just as important as creating beautiful photographs
There is no perfect body type, no required level of confidence, and no specific way you are supposed to look or act during a session
Some people come in feeling confident and excited. Some people arrive nervous and unsure. Both are completely normal
Your session is not about becoming someone else. It is about creating images that reflect the person you want to see
Whether your vision is romantic, powerful, playful, dramatic, sensual, or something completely unique, we will build the experience around you
